We've been using the deep litter method of droppings management in our new shed coop. This is our first winter with this coop. I'm wondering if there is a way to speed up the process of composting. I throw a handful of corn into the litter once a week or so to encourage the birds to stir it up. Anything else I can do to keep it fresh and decomposing?

I have a hen house upstairs in our bank barn it is around 20 by 22. I use the deep litter method and bed up once a week but also stir up the manure and straw from the previous week. I have around 100 birds so they make short work of any grain or other goodies I throw into the bedding. They love to scratch up grain though.
