Spekeled Sussex Chick 5-5 weeks

Hello-
Wing feathers are like other chicks, no tail feathers to speak of, large comb, dominant chick. The shop we got our chicks (3) said they were sexed. I know this type of sussex can be hard to sex. Would love to hear what y'all think!

Is it becuase of the comb? I read a womans post about her sussex and it looked the same and turned out to be a pullet? Is there a definitive way to tell?? Clueless!

A pullet this young would not have that much comb development.

This bird is so sweet too- they just jumped up in my lap to be petted!

My Sussex is around the same age, barely any tail feathers but yours has a much more developed comb. Going on that alone, I think you have a cockerel.

My Sussexes are all 4 weeks old, all supposed to be pullets, and none have a comb as large as your chick's! Nowhere near that size. That alone makes me think cockerel.

OK- update! I called the Feed Supply where I got the chicks- they are guaranteed pullets and return if I get a Roo. So, I sent pics of Flossie or Fosse (depending on gender) and the owner replied that she couldn't definitively say that she was a he or vice versa! I have to keep them until they are 12 weeks anyway- (policy) but she offered me another chick this Friday when they come in. I decided to add another Speckled Sussex and a Lavander Orphington! I don't want one baby chick alone in its own brooding coop...Excited for a few more. That will make 4 or 5 if Flossie is a girl. Woohoo!
