picking TONS of wild blackberries with my son!

gathered a quart and a half so far thanks to the neighbors - and by the end of this week, should have at least that much more! Have you SEEN the prices in the stores lately? $5.99 for a pint?!! HOLY COW!!

Of course.. I'm covered in scratches and have purple fingers, but...it was all worth it in the end

Anyone have any good jam recipes? LOL

We gathered some Monday. We all have Chigger bites on our ankles despite the bug spray we used. The cobbler we made was worth it.

When you can be sure to strain the seeds. Last year I didn't. I let my mom talk me into the "fiber". We hated it.

mmmm....berries.


I'm starting my own thicket. I planted 4 bushes and now I have berry vines coming up ALL over. I fixed an area yesterday so now when i find them...i can transplant them and they can have a happy home in that area along the fence line. And we will get berry's galore.

"Mommy what's berries galore?" asked my 7 yr. old.

"galore means...lots and lots of berries."

nom nom nom.


We are getting a pretty amazing harvest of blueberries now too.

Oh how I love the wild blackberries! Ours should be ready to pick near the end of July. I've been picking the black raspberries with my daughter. Picked maybe 2 gallons already. Guess we've got to get back out there today!
