Spinning for Food

I have conditioned/trained my duck to spin when I am holding food. I thought I should share!

Great video. I have seen dogs 'spin' for food, but this is a first with ducks for me.

That’s where I got the idea! My dog can spin too, but she does it on command now- we don’t need food anymore. I pretty much applied the same technique, but I don’t think ducks enjoy praise so they probably won’t do it unless I have a reward.

I noticed she was very food motivated! I give my two girls a big bowl of food in the morning for them to eat all day and pick it up around sunset. As soon as I let my ducks out of their coop for the day they are ready for breakfast and she followed the food bowl to wherever I set it down- so I just had her follow it in circles every time before I set it down. Now she associates running in circles with me setting the food somewhere!
