Spiral egg basket?

I think Cherylcohen and someone else out here have these too. I know they posted a while back.

Stupid me I got one a few years ago and gave it away. Now I wish I had the motivation to make one.

I have one and absolutely LOVE it. The instructions say not to roll a new egg from the top because they will crack upon impact. I just slide them in from the side. When you take the bottom one out, they all move down a little bit, albeit not perfectly. It's such an easy way to make sure you are using the oldest eggs first. And, it is a great conversation piece -- everyone that comes into our house comments on the skelter and the fact that we don't refrigerate our eggs. This naturally segues into a conversation about our chickens, including the naughty one that is currently residing in our shower.

Seriously. The shipping from the UK killed me. It looks from their facebook page, though, that they will soon be selling them in the USA. They also said they sold over 1,000 in the last 11 days. Yowza!

Yup, I have purchased both the regular size and the one for the bantam eggs, too. I haven't used them lately because I moved, and they're still in one of the boxes I haven't yet unpacked. (This was a move in which few boxes were marked.)

I love them. It was annoying to have to leave eggs on the counter a couple of days before I could use the first one out of the box.

Because I didn't wait with the first two, and the first egg in the spiral DID get a little dent in the shell when the second egg rolled down. So when I had 2 day old eggs, I put 'em in it. Perfecto! But truthfully, the rolling eggs from the top of it bit isn't nearly as rewarding as seeing it with eggs in it, held in the spiral shape. So I started to put them in from the side, too.

Ya never know. I tend to really like these sorts of things. Handcrafted items are especially interesting to me. I might very well be a customer - especially of an American-made item!
