splash orpingtons???

I don't have splash roo Tiff...only a blue and a black one...I have splash hens...

After looking at Julies maybe he would be considered mottled...but I was going by Storeys guide...he is pretty whatever color he is....

Tiffany, He doesn't crow??? How old is he??

I REALLY hope my Orp roos stay quiet. The Leghorns are all
screaming by 8 weeks. None of my Orp roos(Buff & Blue) make even a peep.

chicken feed, to get "the goods" so to speak, youll have to get blue/black/splash hatching eggs and cross your fingers that you get some splashes...

...or, maybe someone around you has chickens and you can snag some. Hwere are you?

I have never seen these at a hatchery. Ill separate my roo and blue orp hen and send you some eggs. But, honestly youd be better off getting some from speckled hen or bamachick. I only have one hen so Id only be able to collect a small number of eggs, lower your chances of hatching.

Good luck!

Tiffany, Thanks so much for your very kind offer! However, after having learned so much more from everyone's posts, I think I'll wait on trying to get started with the splashes. I'm just starting out and want to keep my first flock at 10-12 for starters. Not sure I'm ready for trying to hatch out 10 to *possible* get one of the splashes at this point.
They are beautiful birds though! You have a gem!
I'm sure I'll want to consider this more one day down the road though when I have a little more experience with chickens. I'm in Iowa and may be able to find one some day at a show or swap.
Thanks again for your offer, time and all the great info!!!!

Chickenfeed somthing you might need to know about the splash color is you can just keep breeding Splash to Splash as it will wash the color out to no splash just white. You might can do it for one generation and then you neee to breed back to Blue to keep a good color.

Thanks BamaChicken! I did not know that. I'm ever so grateful to you and all who have been so kind to share all of their knowledge, wisdom, and experiences with their chickens!! Love the pic's too. They sure do fuel the addiction!!!

PC, yah, no crowing!! Can you believe it. He is 8 months old! Im hoping he stays that way! My bantam and NN roos crow constantly so I know he could easily start modeling them and do it but he doesnt seem to have to much interest in it.....
