this is a picture of a Jubilee Orpington 1 day old. I've had a brace on it for 24 hours. About 20% stronger but still hoping around. The foot on the left is about twice as large as the right when extended. Any idea why?

I will change brace now and put some shelf liner in...thanks.
shelf liner is an excellent surface! Imagine if you yourself had a sore ankle. If you walked upon a bumpy and uneven grade, it would aggravate your injury causing more swelling and prolong the healing But if you walked upon a level non slippery grade, you wouldn't hurt as much.. thus you would not swell up as much.
Don't forget to add vitamins to the water. You might consider placing a few marbles in the water dish as well. In case it falls in and can't get out.

Baby Jubilee is all set up...shelf liner, by herself, vitamin water, eco glow, and resting. Healing thoughts please! 3 days old so I wing sexed and looks like a hen...
