Hi,

Our last egg to hatch with our broody hens seemed to have leg issues. She moves but doesn’t stand fully up. This morning I noticed mom wasn’t helping her at all and then pecked her twice so I removed her and now she’s in our house in a brooder. I gave her so chicken vitamins in her water which has riboflavin and she’s already 10x better. Should I do anything else or wait a few days? She’s almost 2 days old.

Also should I remove the other chick so she has a companion? We have been giving her lots of attention and now she thinks I’m mama. The other chick is doing great with the hen and is 5 days old.

Pictures are from this morning except the one in the brooder with the rice sock was early tonight so you can see progress. Her name is Lucy but who knows Lucy could be a he :)

It could be just vitamin deficiency, so the vitamins probably helped, it's legs look fine, I'd try to sneak it back under momma at night if possible.

Mama is very sensitive and the smell of us on her causes her to peck. I may try to buy a chick from somewhere to give her a friend as she definitely thinks I’m mama and wants to be with us all day.

I would keep that little one from walking on the slippery surfaces like that bag in pictures, as any slippery surfaces that they walk on can cause leg problems. That is for any hatchling.
That was just while we built a brooder. It’s in a brooder with pine chips and doing great.
