Every couple of hatches I have a chick or two with splayed legs and I've spent a lot of time messing around with leg braces and bands to try to solve. I finally found something that works for me with the fresh hatched chicks, I've tried this on chicks with the typical frog leg splay and also on one that got her feet caught in the shell so legs were just straight out behind her.
I use vet wrap to bandage them back up and essentially let them "hatch" again. I gently reposition their legs up against their body and wrap them up like a tiny burrito. It takes a few hours for them to push their way free and by then, the legs are stronger and positioned correctly. I've had success doing this with just hatched chicks where I found the issue as I was taking them out of the incubator. I wrap them up and pop them back in either by themselves or with just one friend to minimize possibility of getting squished.

Hope this helps someone else!
