So, if I were to give my chickies split peas as treats, what way should I give them? Dry, soaked in water for 12ish hours, or completely cooked? I got some at a really good price in bulk, and I am guessing they'd like it since I can't make thaaaat much soup

Cooked they would be fine. I would advise against feeding any dried bean or pea as it would swell once it entered the bird's crop.

Canadian Peas, Austrian Peas, Maple Peas, Fetch Peas, Mung Beans can all be found in a pigeon feed and and I have never seen a pigeon or chicken have a problem eating them.

I've been feeding whole "grain" pigeon feed to my birds now for about 6 years now and never had a problem with it or the peas in it.
As a side note most grains/seeds will swell a little if soaked in water but don't have a chance to swell an a crop of a chicken.
