I’ve been watching my bantam Cochins and noticed a significant difference in the way the Milli Fluer carries her wings compared to the porcelain. I tried to get a picture of the wings and noticed it doesn’t “fan” like the other. I have 4 that their wings look the same. 😢

Sadly I do not have a vet that looks at poultry. I’ve never seen a split wing in person, so I’m trying to decide if this is what it is.

How old is she? Split wing is a result of a gap between the primary and secondary feathers, the feather that sits between these has a name that I forgot :p. It can be a lot slower to come in than the other wing feathers in certain breeds that are slow feathering.

My English Orpington had the slow growing middle feather, so I researched and learned that when there is a feather coming in there, it doesn't qualify as split wing, and sure enough he finished growing it and all is well :D.
