I give my chickens worms--not interested. Caterpillars. They turn up their noses. And this morning, melon.
Nope. Not touching that!

Mine are foodies. They are 8 weeks on Sunday. They have tried small bits of watermelon, cantaloupe, black fly larvae, zucchini, cucumber and fresh mint, thyme, basil, sage, mint, marigolds! They go crazy for it all! I did hear bantam Cochins are extremely food motivated… but, WOW! This definitely appears to be true.I give my chickens worms--not interested. Caterpillars. Lucky chicks! They must have plenty of delicious bugs to snack on. My girls are almost 8 weeks and still bopping around on the back deck. The are hilarious trying to chase bugs with their short bantam legs. They eat everything their plump little bodies come across. I think it’s the newness of everything too. Perhaps they will acquire specific tastes soon enough.Mine primarily free range, so maybe they're just not bored enough to try something new.
This was just the stuff they turned their noses up at today! Pieces of a peach are still scattered around the yard from yesterday.

Maybe this explains it with mine, who “yard range.” They love fruit and nuts, but they’re completely meh about veggies.Mine primarily free range, so maybe they're just not bored enough to try something new.
