I have had my chickens for 2 years now, and was told by the local feed store (less than 1 mile from our home) and other sources (looking for ordinances/laws etc) that chickens are legal here without roosters. Unfortunately, that turns out not to be true. In Low Density Residential neighborhoods (Not to be confused with Low Density Residential - Plus neighborhoods), it is not legal to have fowl of any kind, no matter the size of your property.
So! A neighbor of mine and I are looking to see if anyone else would be interested in changing these zoning ordinances, especially for the low density residential areas? The cost to start the process (draft/submission/etc) is approximately $1,600.00. We are also going to be approaching the local feed stores to see if they would be willing to donate some money toward the cause. Any donations/contributions/support would be extremely appreciated!
Let me know if you're interested! The more support the better, even if you're unable to contribute funds!!
