Before I set my eggs I found a quick YouTube video of a woman with my incubator model. She did a quick run down of what everything was and how it worked and briefly mentioned the incubation process. One thing I was unsure of was the addition of sponges during lockdown. The instructions that came with my incubator make no mention of adding sponges so I was just wondering if it's a good idea or not.

The purpose of adding sponges is to increase the surface area if the water, and therefore increase the humidity. Adding sponges dramatically increases evaporation. You only need 35 to 45% humidity during the first 18 days but you need to increase it to 75 or 80% for the last three days.
