Sportsman-type Incubator Plans

I'm debating on getting the plans myself and have hubby slap it together

Did you get the five tray or double tray incubator plan?

We have not actually started building it yet. The biggest hold-up is waiting to buy a used incubator to use the "workings" of (thermostat, heating element, etc.). I do have most of the other supplies ready, though

I have no pictures yet because we have not started building it, but even when it is built I do not think I will post pictures for fear of.... infringing the copyright of the instruction booklet

I am not sure, though.
It is going to be quite affordable since we have almost every thing needed left over from building pens and such!

The double... for now. I don't have space for as many chicks as the sportsman-like one would hatch

Thanks! I will be looking into that one LOL! I wish that guy would show up on here and sell his incubator plans for a little discount on here on BYC!

Looks pretty good! I hope its easy to read and follow up the plans but in the reviews, I didnt see too many information how it (the buyers) liked it and how well it incubated the eggs. I am assuming that it would not be all that much different than the syrofoam ones.

Go to Cutler Supply's website and buy the parts. The parts new are probably the same as buying an old incubator.

Well I went ahead and bought the plans. I will send pics as we go along but I will not take over everything step by step.

I have my OLD Hovabator, the trusty steed whose syrofoam fell to pieces and the guts (heating elements and so forth) will go to this new plan.

For the inside I am planning on putting in melanmie panelling for easy cleaning.

I should be getting the plans in a few days or so. This is for a double stack, not the five shelved one.

The problem with some of the catalogs, I could not find an auto thermostat part that replaced the thermostat wafer. Not sure what kind or what wattage to use for this one.

Remember that the Hovabator heater is only 25W. That won't be enough for a larger box.

I used a 125W heatrope in mine, it was $20.
