Spot the Ancona!

My recent hatch is 17 ducklings. 6 are pure Ancona but several of my mixed look Ancona too. Any guesses on who is who? And no, I didn’t label the ducklings at hatch. Most hatched overnight so I don’t know who came from which egg (and the eggs were labeled). I posted all 17, even the ones that look Swedish etc. Any breed guesses welcomed.

Possible mothers- white layer, khaki Campbell, welsh harlequin, Cayuga, Rouen, black runner, or (unlikely) Dutch hookbill (black with white bib,, probably 6 years old).
Possible fathers- blue Swedish, blue Swedish welsh mix? Not sure but he’s lighter than the blue Swedish, and Ancona.

The 6 pure Ancona were purchased eggs with black or chocolate as possible colors.

Thanks. Are yours doing well? Mine are thankfully. I hatched after 2 failed shipments from sandhill preservation. Told them to cancel after I had 40+ dead ducklings between the 2 shipments.

Yeah mine are doing great and that's really sad about the ones that died

I have no clue but those are some of the cutest ducks I have ever seen. They all look so happy

Let’s see.. 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 14, 15, and 17 are your most likely candidates. 11 and 14 are chocolate, so I’d assume they’re pure for sure. Your White Layer and Ancona would produce pure-looking Ancona babies, so perhaps they had a part.

I don’t think I can ID beyond that. Maybe it’ll be more prevalent once they’re grown?

I don’t think I can ID beyond that. Maybe it’ll be more prevalent once they’re grown?

Can white layers lay green eggs? Most of the Ancona looking ones came from green eggs

Do all Anconas have a spotted bill? Because 2 of these babies don’t and maybe that would narrow it down? (I’m new to the breed).

Not sure if you can see it, but this gray/khaki duckling has a blue bill. Super pretty. I’m wondering if she’s half black runner? But also maybe half khaki? She can’t be both. I only have females of those breeds.

Here are pics now that they are older. I’m down to 4 Ancona as the chocolates died of unknown causes. One didn’t grow right, the other was perfectly healthy one day and found dead the next. 4 of the ducklings have a black back half almost entirely. After reading the breed standard, are those even breeding worthy? I’m still not positive which 2 are not pure Ancona… although those two could be up to 75% Ancona I want to try to keep a pure breeding flock.
