I have a splash silkie I got from a fellow BYCer.

I'd thought she just had wrong colored skin and eyes when I got her a couple months ago, but looking at her closely, she has a mix of black and white skin on her body. Her face and vent are the most obvious with most of it being white with some black spots.

I was parting feathers all over her today trying to see if it was just her face and butt being white with black spots, but she seems mostly black with white.

She looks like a silkie in body shape and size. Comb is correct and she has very thick silkie feathering on her.

What genetically would cause the spotting? I couldn't find anything when I did searches.

Curiosity is just killing me now that I've really thought about it.

Are you sure she's a Splash and not a Paint? I believe they call that "holes in the pigment". You may want to post a pic too, that would help, and post it over on one of the Silkie threads. There is also a Paint Silkie thread too, just do a search for it in the search bar at the top of each page.

Here is the link to the main Silkie thread. It's fast moving, but there is always someone in there to answer questions. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread/22810

I went out and took some pictures. It does't show up as well on camera. I picked out the best ones.

One on the right here. I got both of them at same time. I think I was told they were from the same batch of eggs she ordered.

Her dark feathers are all like this. Only part has color.

You can sort of see the color change here on the back of her neck. It's just so much fluff it's hard to get a good picture under it all.

You can see the black and white best on her face.
