spraddle leg in quail chicks

I'm going to try the glass cup method. I have one quail chick hatch with spraddle leg. I tried the bandaid method and it was an epic fail, mostly because I think I did it wrong and the chick ended up laying there helpless.

Now one chick has splay leg, I think. They don't go to the side, but out to the front and it will go into a spasm like it's beating a drum. I tried taping it; fail. Just kept falling over. It jumps out of the shot glass so I used an ice cream sunday glass but can jump from there too. Failed at trying to get it wrapped in paper towels but, too wiggly and tiny to get it right.
HELP PLEASE!!! We are both resting, but need to get something done before it gets much older. Valley chick, by the way.

Sister Mary Michael,
I had one chick with splay legs. Mine tried to hop out of the shot glass just like yours did. So what I did was to put it back into the shot glass and place one of my hands over top while holding the shot glass (restraining it, yet not forcefully) and gently pet it's head with the other hand while I watched TV with my son. By the end of the 2 Spongebob Squarepants episodes we watched, the leg had enough strength to support the chick without any issues. Within an hour of putting the chick back into the brooder, none of us could identify which chick was afflicted.
I really hope this helps,
James

the glass/cup technique worked for me.
i kept the chicks with the problem in the bator until they could walk.
the late hatchers seem to have the most problems.
on my second hatch. much better than the first.

happy quailing

Thanks for the input. I put a layer of paper towel in the shot glass and then rubber banded a piece of light screen over it. It has been there all day, but when I take it out, after a while it does the leg thing again. I'll leave it over night and see what happens. Meanwhile, the one that is filling with air like a ballon may have to be culled.
I have been poking its skin with a sterilized needle to release the gas, and giving it bird RX meds. I don't have any antibiotic to fight the bacteria. It eats and drinks but I'm sure it is tired of the pokes too. Sigh, poor babies.
