Spreading Sickness

Unfortunately the corid did not do the trick. The poop is back to normal but all other symptoms have remained. Now several of my healthy chicks who are in a separate room are beginning to show same symptoms. I tried using terra-vet 10 for three days but have not noticed any improvement. Someone recommended Tylan 50. I'm trying to figure out dosage and injection site. Any recommendations?

I'm glad to hear there are no more bloody poops.

Do you have any updated photos of the 2 sick chicks and their droppings?

You mention they still have all other symptoms? Quickly going back over the thread, you mention they are lethargic, keeping their eyes closed, no respiratory symptoms correct?

If you can give us a better list of symptoms hopefully we can figure it out...

Terra Vet-10 (Tetracycline hydrocloride) is not as effect as Tylan50 when treating secondary infections due to respiratory illness.

Since there is no mention of coughing, wheezing, mucous from the nostrils, runny eyes, facial swelling an antibiotic may not be the answer either. You can certainly try to see if it makes a difference. Injectable Tylan50 can be given orally or by injection into the breast muscle 1/4" deep (alternate injection site). Dosage is 1cc per 5lbs of weight given 2x a day. You need to weigh your chicks to give the correct dosage.

Keep us posted.

With those symptoms, try the Tylan50 to see if it helps. Again, most respiratory illnesses are viral and antibiotics will only treat secondary infections, but sometimes they can alleviate symptoms enough for birds to start to recover.

There are several respiratory illnesses with similar symptoms, so without testing it would be hard to determine which one you are dealing with. Mycoplasma, Infectious Bronchitis, Coryza and ILT are some of the most "common".

If you haven't done so, consider adding some poultry vitamins to their water to help give them a boost as well.

I have noticed runny/watery eyes and one has been wheezing and squeaks when he breathes. Also being lethargic and sneezing.
these are not symptoms of Cocci, so Corid would not help these symptoms.
I hope the Tylan does the trick for you.
Good luck.
