Spring 2013 Cornish Roaster Journal

Life just got too busy to keep a weekly update going. This is the recap of this years activity.

I raised 3 batches of chicks: 36 on Feb 11, 26 on April 1st and 26 on May 13. Total of 88 chicks.
I lost 2 chicks in the first batch. The 2nd batch was very flighty and I lost 4 chicks to them balling up. Only lost one due to the heat and one got crushed while moving the tractor. Total of 10 chicks lost.
Due to the extremely wet summer, I had to delay processing several times which led to extra feed cost.
Average dressed weight on 78 birds was 7 lbs. Although the weights ranged from 4 to 10 pounds.
Total weight in the freezer was 545 lbs.
