Spring 2017 first timers post!

They'd be Easter Eggers (mistakenly labeled as Ameraucanas often when sold). They are great chickens though! Beautiful multi colored feathers usually, which make a stunning flock. Plus they can lay anything from light green, to medium green, to light blue, to a greenish blue hue mix, to pink or tans.. They also are usually good layers too, 3/4 a week unlike true Ameraucanas who lay 2/3 if your lucky.
Great for cold weather due to small combs, but great for warm weather due to lighter body birds. I love that breed, we ordered three for our flock

Thank you all for your kind words. It was so hard to loose a chick. Way harder than I anticipated. So the very next day, Yesterday, we brushed ourselves off, got back on the horse and headed out to pick up another BO. This time we made sure to pick little to no pasty butt, only high wings and no chickies hanging out by themselves.
Our current flock somehow multiplied by that trip.. instead of coming home to a flock of 3 plus .. we came home to 3 plus 3! This was everyone earlier today..

We are looking forward to our Welsummers, Speckled Sussex and hopefully Easter Eggers either Thursday or Friday.

It is funny to watch these little BO and SLW ladies play around. I have seen at least 3 of them do a maneuver similar to a hen when she dust bathes. It is hilarious to watch and they start kicking sand about everywhere!

Thank you. It has been a very warm winter here until we all got Spring fever and it seems winter has arrived??!! So I am still keeping my chicks inside. Now it is to the point that I am really going to miss them when I take them out for good. It is suppose to warm up this weekend.

Hello all, new to chickens but I think I have found the resources I need. I didnt even want chickens, my fiance has for a while, and I caved for her birthday.....so sunday I am picking up 6 chicks. 2 Bresse`s, 2 Bielfelders (sp?) and 2 Ayam Cemani's. If Im gonna give in and have to take care of them too I might as well get some cool ones haha. (Im quietly hoping I get a pullet and cockerel of the cemanis... but otherwise dont want a rooster lol)



Anyone have any suggestions for a noob who isnt afraid to screw up?

 EEs are beautiful chickens. I have had a few before & they were all flyers! We had to learn how to clip wings.

5 of my 7 eggs hatched! They're precious I named the pretty 1st one raylan, the

gold one is boyd and the the black ones are ava, wynonna and willa. I moved them in with their orpington big Sisters yesterday and all is well. But now my incubator is empty

We thought about getting a Welsummer, but they weren't going to be ready until May and we didn't want to wait that long and have to introduce two babies to an established flocked (even if only a few months older). I hope you love your EE's and Speckled Sussex though! I have them both and they are sweet little things! Make sure you post pictures!
