Spring 2017 first timers post!

I realized today, day 4 for the eggs in my incubator, that the turn mode had been set to 'OFF' somehow. I knew I hadn't been hearing it much, but just figured I wasn't in the right place at the right time. I actually turned them myself yesterday and the day before, but for their first few days they didn't get moved much. Have I doomed these babies? It's a little too early to candle them. I just put them in there on Saturday.

I'm also a new time chicken mama! Have had my chicks for about a week and bought them at 1wk old from our local farm store. The kiddos love them. I'm nervous but excited!

Good luck with your brood they are very cute mine are 3 1/2 and I am still checking on them as often as possible and doing my best to bond with them and then of course I had to get more because 13 wasn't enough

No worries, I have done that before too. They will most likely be fine.

My chicken coop arrived today!!! When it stops raining I can put it on the stand and place in the yard. The stand will lift it 15 inches off the ground. Then I can paint it and shingle the roof.

Cool looking coop.

If you raise it a little higher, the chickens can get under it for shade. Just a thought. It might be easier to clean inside also.

I thought about that. Haven't fully decided what to do yet.

So excited!! My chicks will be here in a week! I was going to order from Meyer but changed my mind and ordered from a local farm supply so I can pick them up. A black australorp, a buff orpington, a silver laced wyandotte, a golden sex link, and two easter egger chicks! The brooder is all ready to go and waiting for the babies

Lol, too true! 18 butts that poop every few minutes, add in chicken instincts to scratch and dustbathe kicking in and this mama is having to check on them quite often! And they still think I'm an awful ogre and refuse to enjoy cuddles Haha!
This no joke...we have 18 right now that we are raising in a couple friends different brooder setups. Having them split up makes the cleaning an every other day chore but it's still a lot. We are actually raising some of them for other people who just want coop-ready birds. It'll be a bit easier once we've thinned the flock a bit. But many of them do the same thing about seeing me as an ogre and resisting being handled. Lol
