Lol, it's been a few years for me as well but I'm sure we'll do just fine! I'm so glad we both finally will have chickens again!

Not sure which ones I'm more excited for... but I absolutely can't wait to see my Black Jersey Giants .......:love

I'm getting mine tomorrow too! So hard to wait! Gotta find all my brooder supplies in the garage. I hope my broody accepts the chicks, otherwise I am going to have 8 chicks in the house. But I am going to keep 3 in the house anyway, just to play with. :)

Nice list of breeds there!

We have the following en route:

2 Blue Andalusians
2 Buff Laced Polish
2 Dominiques
3 Delawares
2 White Capped Black Polish
4 RIR
4 Buff Orpingtons
4 Silver Laced Wyandottes
2 Salmon Faverolles

We anticipate that some may perish, and we plan to give a few to other local chicken friends.

There has been an unfortunate mix-up however in shipping and no one knows where our chicks are. If they don't arrive by Thursday morning at the absolute latest, I don't think many will survive. It has me really worried but my local post office is on the look out and the hatchery is aware.

First time Chicken owners.

Finished building our coop in January after approximately 6 months of on and off construction.

Our first chicks arrived from Cackle Hatchery on February 23rd. We ordered 16 (3 black australorps, 3 buff orpingtons, 5 white silkies, 5 splash silkies) and ended up receiving 20 (4 extra silkies). All were in good health, arriving in approximately 24 hours. Here are some pictures from the last 2 weeks.

Oh no! Such lovely breeds that you chose and now they're MIA! :( I'm certain they'll be found safe and sound, hang in there.

Hi TJ,
Do you have a bottle of bovidr labs poultry nutri-drench? Go to tractor supply and buy the small est bottle. About 7dollars. Because these chicks are late they will be severely travel stressed. HTTP://WWW.nutridrench.com
This emergency nutrition AL supplement was created for emergencies just like this. It has ever y thing the. Chicks need but doesn't need to be digested. Mainlines directly into the bloodstream. Measureable in minutes there, all natural, 99percent utilization. Give each chick one drop only by mouth when they arrive. Repeat as needed for need y chicks every 8-10 hours until perky.put 1/2 teaspoon in one quart water for the first week. No need for electrolytes or probiotics. Orapple cider vinegar. Has ingredients to do what ACV and electrolytes do and the molasses in it encouages proper bacterial growth in the digestive tract. But the drench doesn't,T need. Digesting and that is the crucial difference. These. Babies will be weak and because it their g.i
Tracts won,T be able to effectively uptake a lot of helps. Bypass the tract and shunt the helps directly into the bloodstream to give energy, help restore the immune system, jumpstart the g.i.tract. best success, Karen

Thanks for the excellent tip @3riverschick ! I will stop by TSC tonight and pick this up. Right now I am most concerned with dehydration because weather is cold but freezing temps.
