Spring 2017 first timers post!

I got my chicks! Or most of them anyway, the feed store didn't get sliver laced wyandottes or and buff orpingtons yet. But everyone else is eating, drinking, and making adorable soft chick noises

Cute! Are the feather dusters just for them to hide under and play around in? What a good idea, I hadn't thought of that.

They seem to like sleeping under the feather dusters and they also hide under them after they eat/drink. I saw the suggestion on pinterest and decided to give it a try.

I am very new as well. I have had my babies (2 Barred Rocks &2 Buff Opaningtons) for just In
a week now. just wanted to say hi and let you know that this experience is better than I expected! Welcome to BYC!

Keep an eye on them. Some of them have had the "feathers' get wound around their necks. I believe it was last year that a member lost a chick like that, and others chimed in that they had seen that too but managed to free the chicks just fine.

I love my Barred Rocks! The 2 I have seem to be a little bit more in control, as far as peaking order goes, and they are also very sweet and curious. I love their personalities.

What a great idea!

I think I'll try that with my three tinys----they have a large brooder to themself ( was afraid they would get trampled by the others) so they might like a little mama's skirts hidey place!
