Hi everyone, im new to this and will appreciate any feedback. I live in southern Arkansas and was wondering when I should expect some eggs. I have old English game bantams. They free range all day and i know they dont lay during winter due to shorter days. Should I expect eggs in January, February, March or when??? PS yes im being impatient, but i wanna see some chicks!!! Lol

I believe the majority were born early this year. I got them july/August and where feathered up pretty good. Some others i got where still going through the change of getting their adult feathers.

Try giving them lots of scraps, proteins. And corn. My best luck has been with legbars, or Blue andelusians, they seem to just keep on laying all winter. or you could try Australorps. good luck!

How about light? How much light do they get at night/before they get to go outside? Light plays a pretty big part in winter laying.

Ty, I let them out every morning after i put the kids on the bus and they put themselves to bed around 5 pm. I dont want to put a light in their coop and i don't eat the eggs, i just really want some chickies n was curious as to when they naturally start laying eggs because i was told January but that sounded way to early to me, its still really cold here in February even tho i know it has more to do with the amount of light
