I was just wondering if roos grow out of the teenage crazy phase? Will he chill when he is full grown Or maybe when the season is over? Or once they become mean they stay mean? He has been mean to the pullets suddenly When his skinny hackle feathers started to grow in. But not all the time just late afternoon after 4 until he goes to sleep. At night he snuggles with the hens no problems. I'm thinking of separating my little roo from the pullets. I was thinking of building a simple run with a sleeping box. But keep it next to the regular coop so he can still socialize. I just don't know what to do with him. My son was crying when I told him we need to give him up, and even if I do who would even want a raging testosterone rooster besides for a stock pot. My family is very attached to him at this point 😢

It all depends on the rooster, the breed and the environment. I know that some will get to be more aggressive as they grow older. Some might calm down when the season is over, ( or when they get older. Little roosters or cockerels are crazy mating ) but they still have the roostertude. He might get more frustrated if he's kept by them but can't get in, he might even hurt them if they're close enough. How may pullets do you have? He needs at least 5 pullets to not over breed or harm the rest. The more the better! 😁

He has only 3 but we don't have much room to add more. He was an accidental roo from a batch of so called pullets.
