Spring Hollow Acres

Alright folks, I'm not well versed in specific breeders but I also haven’t seen a lot about this place. Has anyone gotten eggs from Spring Hollow Acres? Was it a scam? They claim to have some very hard to find eggs, all sorts of bobwhites and rare pheasant, prairie chicken, grouse, several partridge, even wood ducks and teal. Are they at all legit? I’ve fallen in love with some of the breeds and species they have but I’d hate to spent so much on a define scam, or be lied to about what I’m getting.

I looked at their Facebook page. Some older pictures there are from other sites, not theirs. They have a link to their website, so it is the same place.

The email address given on Facebook is different than the one on their website. That is just weird. Same name though of Whitney Croft, one ends in duck.com and the other in gmail.com

Nowhere on their website do they say what payment methods they accept. That is concerning.

Usually, when a fake business is involved, you'll see angry faces on its FB posts. Nobody has done that to their posts there. I went to the owner's FB, and there were none there either. That's a good thing!

I think what I'd do is find out their payment methods. If they say it's PayPal Friends and Family, I'd run.

If they take regular PayPal or a credit card, then at least you have some recourse if you get scammed.

It looks like they take credit card, regular PayPal and PayPal Payment plans. Venmo too. What would I need to protect myself if it is a scam? Proof of no communication, or no shipments, etc?

Someone in a different thread briefly mentioned them and said that they were legit but very expensive, and worked like a broker for other people selling eggs. I’m not sure how true that is or how long it takes to get my eggs when they ship since it doesn’t say anything about average hatch rates or ship dates.

Do they have a phone number you could call? I would be hesitant to order from anyone who did not have a working number that I could call and ask questions to.

Just an update since this place seems to be a mystery; I dug around and found their eBay page. The have a vast majority positive reviews, quoting good communication, fast shipping, and solid packaging. All from verified buyers. Negative reviews seemed to most likely be poor handling by USPS, and that said they attempted to reship if the buyer paid shipping.

Their website seems self made, perhaps leading to the “sketch” factor I was experiencing. I took a slight gamble and ordered two dozen of each of their special colors of bobwhite; even with bad hatches I should get a few of each. I’ll be keeping a close eye on how they hatch when I get them. I paid using traditional PayPal so I’m reasonably protected if it’s a scam. Fingers crossed!

I’ll be following up on this thread and posting updates and photos if/when I’m able to.

An update; all my eggs have shipped, and I have tracking info at the ready. Eggies arrive Saturday, I will create a thread soon to document incubation and my success rates!
