Many of us are restricted to doing chores quickly this time of year because of the cold.Unlike many of the seasoned Peafowl breeders here, this will be my first year to have all my breeding males grow full length trains. I have 5 coming 3 yr old breeding males this spring so it will be their first attempt at a significant growth compared to last year.
The white eyes coming in my Charcoal male are showing up more easily and more predominately as compared to his bristle patch of a tail last summer.I've noticed my India Blue Pied male is now sporting white eyes in only the middle of his train, seems to be one white eye on each feather in all 3 lengths of growth amounting to a solid row precisely in the very middle of his train. Kinda resembles a skunks tail in nature with a long white stripe perfectly aligned. My Black Shoulder Silver Pied male Roadtrip's train is exceptionally long and is close to if not exceeding 4' in length now.My Purple b/s silver pied males train was a complete wreck all last summer as a 2 year old,but what a photo perfect train he is getting now! I find it hard not to bother them too much to get them to turn around as if walking away from me to see the full extent of their growth but once spring weather is here pictures will be snapped daily while they are still perfect.Doing chores here daily is a spectator sport for me but I wish I got home from work sooner before it gets dark.Oh well that what weekends are for.

Uh Frenchy where are the photos?

I really envy you southern pea lovers. We enjoyed 2 beautiful days here, but next week we will be in the single digits and possibly some minus degrees. After seeing the beautiful tails that are coming in I will sure miss not being able to get back out there. Since I can't spend time outside they aren't as friendly.

So wonderful to hear the update about your boys, and looking forward to the pictures!
Any beauty updates about You-Know-Who?
Probably didn't mention You-Know-Who because he has the most gorgeous train of all and FBC doesn't want to admit it!

I hear you... we had around 40 yesterday, it's 0 right now with 28 mph winds, and I think it's Monday they are saying that our high might be -10. I need to get some updated train pics, but don't want to bug them too much when the weather is like this.

I've been busy finishing another inside pen inside the Palace before the deep freeze hits us here Tuesday morning so sorry for the 2 day delay. To be 10000%%%% totally honest here,in my first post referring to the number of new coming 3 year old males,,I forgot and did not include Thang in the headcount. He would be number 6,,am I bad??? I honestly forgot completely about him. I moved all my India Blue pen back in with the Charcoal group.Frosty his train is as long as the other males his age but Thangs not the eye candy at the Palace in my opinion.(I'm ducking for cover now)
Zaz if I get my pen done and birds moved I'll try and get a few of Thang although he is back to avoiding me like the plague here.

Oh Frenchy so what you are saying is if I sneak over to your place and kidnap Thang you wouldn't even know he was missing LMAO!

Sounds like a dam good THANG idea to me

Thang is sharing winter housing with 20 other peas. And he's no "stand out" in the group since my Charcoal male is also in that pen.Yes he probably could be relocated and it may take me a day or two to notice he was missing.
