We haven't found that to be true in our Dark Cornish, we have had great fertility and hatchability from them. Last year we used some as "packing material" and a suprise for a turkey egg shippment from North Carolina to Alaska. And they hatched.

I saw the picture of your bird that accompanies your EBAY auction & as I said in my post I was talking about Show Quality Cornish having fertility problems. The bird you have pictured certainly doesn't fall into that category. His body type is wrong, he's too fine boned & he shows way too much tail. He's typical of the type of Cornish that many hatcheries sell & I don't doubt they have good fertility.
There may even be SQ cornish out there too with good fertility but in my limited experience with poultry [48 years or so] most breeders I've known have reported fertility problems with good Cornish.

nyreds,
Thank you for your comments, we never claimed "SQ". To breed a bird with poor fertilty? just to make SQ. Sorry that doesn't make much sense to us. Our birds have a use on our farm..... eggs, chick sales, hatching egg sales, and the very important meat for the table.

I did sands. I was attempting to educate.

If you'd noticed. I never stated that you were attempting to sell SQ.

Here is a cut and paste of your post????

I just looked at the auction as well.

It was a good try, but the birds you're advertising aren't SQ.

Well, they're not? I NEVER said you were advertising SQ birds.

And...I'm sorry you feel this way, but breeders that are breeding for the Standard of Perfection feel this is a worthwhile cause. Plus...a well trained male (one who secretes sperm without a fight) can deliver sperm in less than 2 strokes of the back and a female is the same. All in all...will take approximately 4 minutes total.

Steve, I think the confusion is coming up because the subject of the post is "SQ standard Cornish, LF".

I don't think anyone is hacking on your stock - I'd love to have some Reds like that - but the OP was looking for SQ.

Not trying to butt in, just trying to diffuse the topic.

You still aren't reading the post. We never claimed SQ.

I hope that works out well for you, for the average farmer/ homesteader it's not part of the everyday chores for poultry. As stated we raise poultry for a purpose other than showing them.

Ok...since you apparently aren't reading MY posts closely enough. I'll spell it out for you.

1. The poster wanted Show Quality birds.
2. You posted you had eggs on Ebay.
3. That leads people to believe you have hatching eggs from SQ birds.
4. I NEVER once said that YOU EVER had Show Quality birds or that YOU EVER claimed that you had show quality birds.

I think ya need to just calm down.

NOBODY is bashing your birds. They are pretty, but NOT what the poster was looking for specifically.
