Squarking hen

Hens can and will crow, I have a bantam Phoenix hen that crows pretty much every day. I don't see a rooster in the video so I am guessing you down own one. A hen will take on a roosters 'job' if one isn't around. Lulu my bantam isn't the first hen I have had crow, I had a Wyandotte hen who did too and sadly took her roo job so seriously she died for her flock mates when a hawk was in the yard.

Lulu, didn't crow until I got her since we don't have a rooster here.

Thanks for the video, sure makes it easier o understand what you mean.
Don't think that's crowing, or a prelude to crowing.
Could be a crop or respiratory issue.
Had a hen that did that chronically for most her life, never did figure out what her problem was, she seemed to do everything pretty normally except for the sound, I called her 'Croaker'.
Have seen others do it on occasion, usually after gorging on feed and/or water.

Oops I missed the video..:th

I am wondering this too. I have an ameracauna and a maran/ameracauna mix that I call “Ms. Bitch 1” and “Ms. Bitch 2”- pardon my French. These two are constantly squawking. I got these two birds from another woman in town when they were a year each. They hate my presence and I think would rather live elsewhere. And the mix constantly lays her eggs elsewhere, not in the nice nesting boxes. We sometimes find 8-12 of her eggs in a corner outside the coop , or I should say the dog finds them. I think they just squawk to bitch and voice their opinion of my presence
