Squatted then no more...

I would say within the week or next week she will be laying since she is 24ish weeks old.
In the pictures she is enjoying the cool dirt but your description of the squatting is the squatting I see before laying. In your pictures of the cool dirt enjoyment, her comb looks redish. My EE's don't get the bright red color.

Thanks! Here is her squatting...

Sounds weird, but true!!!!
That I'm not an expert at.
I have had chickens for 7 years and have slowly added 3 batches of chicks. I have never done the finger width test. I can be impatient with these things but I let mother nature surprise me.
I still think she is close though, my ladies usually start squatting like that one-two weeks before laying their first egg and their comb colors are the same as yours around that timeframe.

You may be able to hear her laying.
I have some hens who lay an egg and move on without making a noise. And then I have others that tell the entire neighborhood that she has just done the impossible and laid an egg.
I'm excited to see what color her egg is... please post when she lays it!
I have 5 that lay blue eggs, 9 that lay green/olive eggs, and 2 that lay pink eggs.
