Squatting when picked up

They started laying eggs about three weeks ago! We are looking for creative ways to eat them. My son doesn't like the yolks so I have been feeding that back to the chickens. Is that ok? Seems wrong, but they eat it up along with the shells. Our americauna has green eggs! Love it!

What's so cool about this site is that when you're a newbie experiencing everything for the first time...no one is bored with it and everyone is supportive.

Wow that is so funny! My hens started doing that too and a week later (today actually) I found my first 3 eggs!

Its nice to know why. I assumed they were surprised or startled while I was reaching for them.

Give them a good scratch (just like u would a dog). They love it.

When my girls spread their wings like that, they want to be rubbed. I get in there between the feathers and give them a good 'ol scratching. They close their eyes and enjoy!!!!
