I had two hens and one of them was killed almost two weeks ago. So, yesterday, we adopted a new chicken so my hen wouldn't be lonely; however, now my hen will not quit squawking. Unless she is eating or at least twenty feet away from my new addition, she wont stop. Does anyone know why or how long this will last? They slept snug up together last night but my hen began picking on her once the sun came up, now they are separated.

I'm not sure to what extent you used an integration plan. If you did not, then here's a few links that should help

Intro chicks to adults (not sure of the age differences, so some aspects may still be relevant)

You can start from scratch, as if they have never met, should you opt to develop an integration plan that suits your situation.

Good luck

I'll definitely read through those! We didn't do as much integration as I wanted, I wanted to do the see but don't touch method but my parents thought otherwise. I have the coop divided in half so they're in the same space but can't get to each other. It's only the second day so I hope my hen, Beaker, calms down, but it may take time. It's difficult to keep her constantly distracted. I'll keep you posted on how it goes, thank you.
