Squirrels - A nuisance but are they a danger?

My Cat kills all squirrels so I have no problems. Get a Cat.

There are some great instant kill squirrel traps out there, my mom has "killed" over 700 squirrels with the Kania squirrel trap. Keep it away from your chickens, she accidentally got a wild turkey once!! I think the trap is made in Canada, it works great! Once you have squirrels who know how to get an easy meal, it'll be hard to get rid of them.

Squirrels kicked my butt and stole all my almonds, when my cats were young they got rid of squirrels on the ground level but they still dominated the tree canopy of the entire city. Never had an issue with them other than the almonds they stole.
Older cats seem to just sit on the deck and watch the squirrels as entertainment like they do the chickens but when my cats were young I would find squirrel tails at my back door every day and the neighborhood had many tailless squirrels.

Squirrels will look for protein when they have a litter to feed and they will snatch baby chicks. Plus stealing eggs, bringing in tons of lice and fleas plus many diseases. Get a treadle feeder, they will go elsewhere in order to hustle for a living, little time for anything else if they are going after natural feeds instead of your chicken feed.
