What can be done about squirrels getting into the feed. I have the over ex feeder and I love it but I cant keep the squirrels away!!

Have the chickens been attacking them? If the chickens are attacking the squirrels soon they will all be gone, either they will run away or be eaten.
Im happy to hear the chickens will eventually run them off. Mine are 16weeks old so hopefully they will start doing it soon.

My chickens didn't do squat to the squirrel in our coop, happily ate at the feeder with it. Used our camera to spot it when it was in the coop and hubby blocked off the pop door, went in and took care of it.
My son is "taking care" of as many as he can lol

Wow, $79.99 for a plastic feeder, I need to raise prices!

Squirrels can be tough to stop. We set the treadle back and spring load the door along with a heavy counter weight but a bunch of squirrels can defeat the feeder. However, they usually get trapped too after crawling up inside. You can dump the feeder and the squirrel won't be able to get out or through the feed chute as long as you keep the door closed. Then take him for a long ride or drop the entire feeder into a barrel of water.

I am working on a feeder that will stop squirrels. You can push as hard on the door as you are able and the door cannot open till the treadle has been depressed. I have the action pretty much figured out, the next step is to simplify it so it can be produced at a reasonable price. That is gonna take some time and some investment in new machinery.

So stopping one squirrel, we can do that. Three or four? Be ready to deal with trapped squirrels till they learn or till they are all gone.
