Squirrels on the menu

I second finding a more humane way than drowning. You could also just let it go miles away from your house.

If the hens won't eat it, some won't, and you get enough carcasses you might want to consider a black soldier fly set up. I have never been able to do it myself, tried once and it attracted way too many bears. Had them looking in the windows and trying the door knob asking if I had any more good eats. I have to bury the bodies now.

make a maggot bucket and feed the chickens maggots , euthanize them the easiest way for you . also if you drive them down the road and release them they maybe kill by the tree rats that live in the area they are territorial and don't like new comers

That is a lot like folks dumping dogs and cats in the wild thinking they can find food. Squirrels expand to fill the available territory, sufficient nut trees that produce sufficient amounts of nuts and at the right time of year to keep the squirrel fed and have enough other protein available for when they are nursing a litter of babies. So the existing squirrels in an area will have filled the territories and fight like hell if any newcomers are dumped into the already balanced population.

That squirrel will not have stored nuts for the winter even if they landed in a vacant territory so you are condemning them to slow starvation or to have to fight for food or for their very lives.

A quick death would be preferable to an animal rather than being moved at this time of year.

Just saying...
