I woke up the other morning to find two chicks in the brooder with the feeder laying on top of them. One moved its head and looked up at me, and the other lay completely still. My heart sank as I removed the feeder. Thankfully they were both just fine.

The feeder was empty and they probably could have just stood up, but they looked so helpless. I feel horrible. Maybe they were calling for me to help, but I didn't hear them because they're in the back of the house. Its the one time I feel like I need a baby chick monitor.

the baby monitor isn't a bad idea. i use one and it's already saved a chick that escaped from the brooder..... 3 times (how the HECK does she do it? the walls are 2 1/2 feet tall!)

i am glad to hear your babies are okay! it must have been so scary for you! what a relief!

Is that a security camera, or a web cam? Do you have sound too?

Mine is just a cheap RCA security type camera, I think it was like $20 from x10.com back in like 2003.

Though there are lots of nice wireless IP cameras out there, some people here even have them setup to be accessed through their firewalls so you can watch their chickens online!

A friend gave us this handy dandy baby monitor so now I can hear and see the chicks. It even has night vision. Ya gotta love technology!
