I have 2 SS. One of their combs is not as red as the other, I don’t know if that matters but am curious if they are both Roos. I also have what I assume is EE although I have no idea the breed, I thought she was a pullet but I asked a question this morning about another chicken and someone pointed out he had a beard. It looks like this one does too, what do y’all think? Do I have a bearded roo or bearded lady?

I’m guessing 10-11 weeks old. Do you think the blue beard is an EE?

Yes, she appears to be EE. They don't comply to any specific standard of perfection (regarding feather pattern, skin color, etc) but are sold by many hatcheries to "represent the Ameraucana breed" with the puffy cheeks, pea comb, etc and she looks very typical of hatchery EE. Some hatcheries are not using using bearded/muffed birds making it a but more challenging to identify some of them. Bearding gene inhibits waddle size but not color.. still looks pullet at stated age.. in addition that's a pullets specific coloration to her feather pattern.

Oh ya, both those SS are cockerels! Pullets may flush but they won't plump and pink up that early. Sometimes as early as 10 weeks but usually closer to 12 and well by 16 for male specific pointy saddle feathers.. I think I do see them starting in your most recent photo..

Examples from google..

Thank you so much for the information. I never realized the guessing game when it comes to the sex of chickens.
