Does anyone know how to get rid of mosquitos in the chicken houses at night? They are swarming over my chickens.
Cindy

I use box fans in my coops. We're over run with them buggers already this year.

I've sprayed Lemon Eucalyptus mosquito repellent (by Repel, available at Target in the camping section) on the wire mesh and around the pop door (on the outside) and around the people door (it has a 3/4 inch gap when closed in some places) to keep them away from the coop. I'm half tempted to spray my hands and pet the birds!! Perhaps feed them brewer's yeast?

I have a fan in there, too- they love that!!

I don't mean to sound stupid, but these fans in the coops don't make them sick with blowing everything around in there?
Cindy

That's not stupid, it's a very reasonable question.

I'd think about it this way, the chickens scratch around in their litter anyway, and raise the dust with their faces right down in it. A fan shouldn't be any worse and probably much better because it's blowing higher up.
