I know there is a thread from Maryland but it is pretty old and all of the links on it no longer work. I've been trying to research if I can have backyard chickens at my St Marys County residence, but can't seem to find a clear answer. Anyone have any info they can share? Thanks!

Finally got ahold of someone in the land use department at St. Marys government, and they assured me that there were no regulations in my county regarding this. (Just in case any other residents in the area were wondering...)

Wish I could get a clear answer like that. I live in NJ and no one from my township will reply to me. I went ahead and built the coop and have 6 chicks anyway.

I live in Calvert and I am officially a part of the chicken underground lol. We're on slightly under an acre and you have to have three acres to own chickens.

I have some extra porcelain d'uccles for sale if you're interested. Also, there's a MD thread that is active.

Hi all - just moved to St Mary's County after being in Colorado for the last 25 years. Girlfriend is on .75 acres in Breton Bay area and we are looking at a few chickens - probably next year. Want to try some veggie growing etc this year being as my stuff still has not even arrived from Colorado and we would be getting a late start. Like to meet up with some locals with some experience as we go along.

Glad to see there are no restrictions on the poultry here as I couldnt find a definitive answer anywhere. Where did everyone get their birds from? I notice the state is pretty clear on getting them from places that are cleared by the state of MD or something, which makes sense.
