I've always heard that the minimum space per bird in a coop is 3 square feet unless if the bird is massive or something like an Orpington

This is more of a factory farming standard.

A half-meter wide seems almost too narrow for a cockerel to turn around, once it grows its cocktail in. Maybe sit down in one of those grid spaces and try to imagine those boundaries.

true, I suppose it would only be good as a grow out pen

I might just make them 1m by 1m so two separate parts and try to make 4 structures. Each structures base would be like this:

Id have a visual divider in the center so that the roosters can't view each other and door as far away for each other as possible since i kinda like the general look of it. I'll make a better sketch of it later for the new build plan.

I'm also planning on painting everything with a few layers of water proof stain before putting everything together and then adding on the mesh. However for extra support to the structure and to help keep the mesh on better, I'll be adding on long planks of wood the bottom middle and maybe even around the base of the slanted roof like this (I'd paint the planks in water proof stain too of course)

So I've done some brainstorming and I think what I'm going to do is just make a few 2m by 2m breeding pens and make another grow out pen like the one I have currently so that I can separate young roos from pullets while they're still super young. And then I'll have the 2m by 2m walk in pens be used for my future breeding groups (3 hens & 1 rooster) and then maybe a another 2m by 2m to ensure I have a place for put younger birds I plan on selling.

My hope is to create a proper breeding setup for my Landrace project. the hens are broody fairly often in spring so hopefully I'll have plenty of chicks without needing to do hatches, but I'd still have space for chicks if I end up hatching!

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!! Boy have things happened recently! So I've been building a TON and now I'm putting together a whole 3m by 2m coop with a really cool divider that can be moved and locked into place so I can have 2 different pens or just one massive one! I'm getting the wire on now!
