I have seen many people do staggered hatches in cabinet incubators. They seem to have a tray at the bottom where they move the eggs to for hatching. I have recently bought a cabinet incubator and placed a thermometer/hygrometer in both the top and the bottom. The top seems a bit warmer, but the humidity is the same all over. What's the secret?

Hey Time-Out,

I'm with you - I just bought a cabinet incubator and have promptly filled it with 4 different settings of eggs. I read on here that some folks move the "lockdown" eggs to a hatching tray at the bottom and don't even raise the humidity; while others DO raise the humidity for the lockdown and then lower it after that batch hatches. I'm one week away from my first cabinet hatch and am going to try the latter - raising the RH for three days to hatch and then dropping it again. Wish me luck...

I wish you luck!

I've found that humidity is higher at the top of my incubator, so I'm still puzzled at how people get this to work. I only have 5 eggs in there at the moment. I had other people who were meant to send me some, but they haven't. If they do, I guess I'll get to try a staggered hatch too.
I was thinking of putting the eggs on the top rack until they pip, then move them to the hatching tray, but the window is too low to see the top, so I wouldn't know when to move them.
