Staggered hatch?

A blood ring is what you sometimes see when you candle a fertile egg that has quit developing early on in the incubation. I think it's usually due to bacterial contamination of the egg. If you look about on this site there's probably photos of them.

I've got 14 BBS orps in my incubator now. I'm gonna candle tonight. It's only day 7 but it's the first hatch of the year and I don't think I can make myself wait for three more days!

I have a still air incubator, I plan on using for a hatcher .I am using my top hatch for the incubating. My incubators tem is at 100."What should I set the tem on the still air for the hatcher?"
This is the first time I have used these incubators.I have opened the incubator, every seven days to add more eggs but that is the only time it is open I can add water throw the small holes in the top of the incubator, and I have not had to do this.

Oh I know, I always say to myself I won't candle till day 10 then by day 5 or 6 I'm just twitching to take a peek. By the way, BBS? What's that?

I'm not sure. Maybe better to ask the question as a new thread, that way more people on here will see it. I don't want to give you dud advice and muck up your hatch! I've never used a separate hatcher. I know that fan assisted bators should run at 99.5 and I think still air bators should run at 102, so that the temp right at the top of the eggs is 99.5, and I'd assume that you should be aiming for the same temps in both bators so that when you transfer the eggs their temp stays stable. But like I say, I'm not sure...

Still air should be 101 at the top of the egg. I used to use one when I started. The switched to a forced air for incubating and the still air for hatching. Of course then I went to the forced air for hatching.

I still incubate with my 1588 - forced air - and as long as I'm not doing staggered hatched I hatch and incubate in the 1588. It does all the work. Set it and forget it!

Ah. Thanks for correcting me.I really wasn't sure. If I'd got hold of a still air bator for hatching out the eggs I'm incubating just now, I'd likely have ended up trying to hatch them out at the wrong temp. D'oh...
