These bantams surely aren’t for the faint of heart 😭 I’ve never struggled so much with chicks before!

One of our lil D’Uccle chicks (about a week old?) is struggling. It seemed a bit slow yesterday and I thought it was dead this morning. Picked it up and it was still alive, so I got some Nutridrench in her and it seemed to help. She wants to flop back on her back and staggers around when she does move. So far I’ve given Nutridrench, Gatorade, and yolk, she’s pooped nicely too. What else can I do to help???

What's your brooder like?

Is she eating/drinking on her own?

Flipping back on her back, I would give vitamin therapy. Use human vitamins. Give 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily. A little egg can be given as well to help with the uptake of E.

Wet Chick starter may be easier for tiny chicks to eat instead of crumbles.

It’s a pack n play with a heat lamp, still using puppy pads for now. She won’t eat or drink, even syringing her is tricky since she shakes most of it out now. Usually when they get to that point, I can’t bring them back. I was so hopeful when she took the Nutridrench this morning! I will grab some vitamins. Thank you!

We’ve lost a few chicks this season and I don’t know why this one hurt so much. Ev dug it a little grave and decorated it with Valentine bobbles that we forgot to put away, but is handling it well
