Stain or Paint?

I white wash inside my coop every June with a Salt, Lime and water mixture (there are different recipes on the Internet). This question will most likely have responses all over the map.

We are using a solid stain for the entire coop. I did not want our chickens pecking off the paint, so we found a solid stain made by Olympic (it has a 10-25 year warranty) that looks like paint but is a stain, won't flake and is hopefully peck proof. We are new to the raising chicken life. Like Hokum Coco said opinions will be all over the place. Let us know what you decide.

Ok we have decided to go with a high quality deck paint for the roosting posts/Sandbox. Chose a grey color and have decided to leave the nesting boxes alone and not do anything with them since we are placing straw in the nesting boxes. Will post pictures within the next couple days for sure.

Appreciate all the input everyone, much appreciated! Actually just went out to the stables and it appears I used Behr deck stain but I could have sworn it went on like paint lol, ended up putting two coats on.
