Stall Dry??

I'm no expert, but several people on the list use it and swear by it. It is safe for chickens and is used with the bedding, not instead of it. You apply it and then add the shavings on top. At least that is what the instructions on the bag say if I am remembering correctly.

I use it all the time. I sprinkle mine in the wood shavings when I clean the henhouse each time.

Stall Dry absorbs moisture and helps neutralize the ammonia smell. DE helps keep the bugs down. I use both with a layer of pine shavings and have never had any problems.

Stall Dry has the food grade DE in it among other things. Food grade DE alone can be used in the feeds/bugs and or bedding for smell and dampness where Stall Dry isn't used in the feed. Stall Dry is affective on dampness and smell.

Curious also.... I will be using construction grade sand in my run, do I need Stall Dry or DE or is that only if you use wood shavings? And do you put it in the coop and run? New to this, I'm sure you can tell!!
