My father has takening a very much liking to the Brahmas standard size. He wants some hens and 1 rooster, has anyone ever had agrreation problems with the standard size roosters?? or are they very nice?? and would they be good around another rooster or would i have to seperate them?

I only have one brahma rooster and he is so gentle he is the only one that had free run of the place with his brahma girlfriend. VERY nice bird! A horse bit his leg so he is in sick bay right now. He is actually all better, but he is still in the smaller setup for a while... poor guy. He almost tipped over from that horse bite.

I have had them for many years and I have bought and sold many different breeds and I always keep my Brahmas, they are the best chickens we have ever had, they are quiet, beautful, docile, lay huge good looking eggs almost daily, stay clean, never agressive. So you can't go wrong with this breed.

I have no experience with the standards but I have had bantam brahmas, still have a light brahma cockerel who is just a sweety, he always finds treats for the girls and is a very mellow fellow who likes to sit on my lap and tell me about his day. When it's bedtime I tell him "elvis coop" and he runs right in there.

I say go for it!

I totally agree. Also, one of my hens turned out to be a bantam brahma, while the rest of my hens and my roo are LF. My roo weighs in the neighborhood of 13 lbs. The bantam hen doesn't appear to have any more problem with taking his weight than my LF hens do.
