standard cochin eggs

the one i fount in my pen was the size of my silkie eggs. i do have two silkies in that pen but i think they are too young to lay, they hatched this april and it was laid in a nest box up high where the silkies dont usaully go but the cochins do.

Have they just started laying? If so, it is probably a small pullet sized egg. As they lay more eggs, the eggs will get larger in size. They don't lay huge eggs despite their huge body size.

Mine laid a medium egg, kind of light brown. Definitely bigger than the silkie eggs and not the same color. I can tell the Cochin eggs (even the bantams) by the color. The silkies are more pinkish white. The Cochins lay more of a tan. My LF Cochin has a bigger egg than the bantams but not as big as some of my other LF (Marans, Ameraucanas).
