You can not prove where an egg at a show came from unless you actually see "where it came from". An egg could roll from another coop. But with this situation, the judge seen her lay the egg.

Agreed. My assumpyion is the instance referred to was that the judge saw the bird lay the egg which would be the only circumstance where action would be appropriate. Simply finding the egg there would not warrent any action. I know a couple of clowns who think it's funny to put a duck egg in an Old English Bantam's cage.

Other than the outline used for the Light Sussex and the old Schilling drawings, I can't think of a place to find any other Sussex pictures. The info printed in the APA Standard is going to be what judges will follow, so I wouldn't deviate from that. You may be able to find colored pics of a Red online....probably from the British Standard. Just use it for color though, since the two standards can be different.

If I may interrupt a minute? Feathered World magazine did a wonderful series of painted pictures of the various varieties of the Sussex breed. Full color. I am new to the breed but liked the breed type I see in the pics. Anyway, Country Books in New Zealand reprinted the 1934 edition of Outram's "Sussex Poultry". They illustrated it with full size, full color prints from the Feathered World series. Just a stunning over-sized high quality glossy softcover with stiff high-quality full color wrap-around covers. I used to have a copy and need to buy another. In the back are reprints of the ultra-rare letters by breeders about Sussex gathered by (name escapes me). The Batty book is good too. Kinda cute. He states he started out to write a book on Dorkings but it became obvious real quick it would mostly focus on Sussex. Check Ebay for the Batty book. Also nice color pictures ( paintings).
