standing water in the run..

I use sand...I buy 50lbs of play sand for 3.35 a bag..I also make running ditches in slooping spots in runs to drain any water so no water stands. I had a huge problem with muddy runs and after asking people on here they gave me 2 advices that helped me big time. No more muddy runs for me and my chickens!

If you can't find DE, look for Stall Dry. It seems to be in all the feed stores around here but not the DE. Stall Dry is a combo of DE and clay and works great.

Thanks! I'll see what they have at the feed store.
I dug those trenches and I put down the only thing I had, a whole bale of shavings, which helped....some.....but the best solution I can see is more sand.
One thing I really hate about the mud is that I HAVE to wash almost all my eggs to sell, I really don't like doing that
